WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. Lois W. Gagliardi of White Plains died Aug. 8. She was 81.
She was born Sept. 17, 1930, in Mount Kisco to Carlton and Betsy Wood. Gagliardi was employed by the White Plains City School District for 23 years as a teaching assistant and then as a senior clerk typist at the staff development center before retiring in 1995.
During her tenure, she received the Jenkins Award, given each year by the PTA to a staff member who exhibits the highest standards toward the school community.
After retirement, Gagliardi was a partner at Mamaroneck Flowers, where she loved spending time with her granddaughter, Marlo. She enjoyed knitting and making quilts, especially her "nanny blanket," each one unique, for all new members of the family.
Her husband, Joseph A. Gagliardi, died on Oct. 8, 1997.
She is survived by a son, Anthony (Mary Angela) Gagliardi; two daughters, Marie (Peter) Del Bene and Betsy (Guido) Cicchetti; six grandchildren and a special niece, Diane O'Reilly. A brother, Carlton; four sisters, Grace, Madeline, Jeanette and her best friend and twin, Helen, predeceased her.
Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Yannantuono Burr Davis Sharpe Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in White Plains. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
