Kathleen 'Katie' Casey, 66, Of White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Kathleen "Katie" M. Casey, a 40-year resident of White Plains, died Tuesday, Oct. 2. She was 66.

Casey was born April 28, 1946, in New Rochelle to John James and Charlotte McNeil. Raised in Mamaroneck, she graduated from Holy Trinity School in Mamaroneck, Resurrection High School in Rye and Westchester Community College in Valhalla. She also graduated with honors from Mercy College.

She was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in White Plains and a member of the women’s guild, and also served as a Girl Scout troop leader, Cub Scout den mother and class mother. She was a 20-year member of Westchester Country Club and former chairwoman of its "Big Little Show."

Casey worked as an administrative assistant for the Arts and Humanities Department at Westchester Community College. She was recently promoted to the same position for the Dean of Academic Affairs. During her tenure at Westchester Community College, Casey received a Staff Excellence Award in 2006 with over 30 recommendations.

She enjoyed playing tennis, golf, knitting and exercising. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren at their sports and school-related activities, planning the Casey family's traditional Sunday night dinners and spending time with her friends.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, John D. Casey III; three daughters, Christine (Steve) Schulz, Lauren (Eric) Woolf and Shannon Casey; two sons, John D. (Sandra) Casey IV and Stephen (Adina) Casey; a sister, Charlotte King, of Mamaroneck; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at McMahon, Lyon and Hartnett Funeral Home in White Plains. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in White Plains, with the Rev. John Quinn officiating. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne

Memorial donations may be made for pancreatic research to the Lustgarten Foundation .
