Josephine Kelly DelTufo, 97, P.E. Teacher, City Of White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Josephine Kelly DelTufo, a native of White Plains, died May 2. She was 97.

DelTufo was born to Anna (Matranga) and Frank Cucciare. She graduated from White Plains H.S. earned a B.S. from Ithaca College in Physical Education, and received an M.A. in Health Education and Guidance from New York Uniersity. She was a member of Phi Delta Pi. She was employed by the City of White Plains as a teacher for 35 years at East View Jr. High where she taught, P.E., Health Education, and coached intramural sports.

She was a member in the White Plains Retired Teachers Assoc., Women’s Club, College Club, White Plains Hospital Auxiliary, Lion’s Club, Historical Society, ACIM Committee, and Boy’s Town of Italy. She was a communicant of Mt. Carmel and St. Bernard Churches, White Plains.

DelTufo is survived by her daughter, Joelle Kelly of Massachusetts; sister, Mary Dimando of Connecticut.; and many extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; and husbands, John M. Kelly and Vincent DelTufo.

Calling hours are Friday, May 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home Inc., 491 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains. Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10 with Fr. Ralph officiating at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 92 South Lexington Ave., White Plains. Interment at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 575 Hillside Ave., White Plains.
