Joseph Sgroia, 86, Ex-White Plains Business Owner

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Joseph B. Sgroia, the owner of T&J Topographers in White Plains for more than 20 years, died Aug. 21. He was 86.

Sgroia was born June 30, 1926 in New York City to Albert and Leah Sgroia. He served in the Navy during World War II and married Gene Totten on April 21, 1963. Sgroia was a resident of Mahopac, N.Y.

He is survived by a daughter, Gail (Stephen) Sullivan; two granddaughters; two nieces and a nephew. Sgroia was predeceased by his wife, Gene; and a son, Gary.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at Yorktown Funeral Home . A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
