John Vassallo, 87, Former White Plains Resident

PARKER, Colo. - John Vassallo, of Parker, formerly of White Plains, N.Y., died Oct. 17. He was 87.

Vassallo was born June 23, 1926, in Croton on Hudson, N.Y.; to Frank and Mary (Pettinato) Vassallo originally of Palermo, Sicily. He attended High School in Croton on Hudson and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944. He was served in the Pacific Theater. He worked as a gas station attendant at Texaco and worked for Texaco for over 25 years in roles including executive management. In later years, he was a chauffeur to the president of Manufacturers Hanover in NYC. He was a member in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel parish and a member of the Greenburgh Republican Club.

Vassallo is survived by his son, Dave (Deirdre); four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia; and children, Pam and John.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel, Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y., where entombment will follow.
