John Naughton, 82, Of Ossining; White Plains Educator

OSSINING, N.Y. – John Patrick "Jack" Naughton, 82, of Ossining, died on Monday, Jan. 26, at Calvary Hospital.

Naughton was born March 9, 1932, in the Bronx, to John and Delia Fallon Naughton. He was educated in Barrytown, N.Y., and joined the De LaSalle Christian Brothers. He graduated magna cum laude from Catholic University and earned a master’s degree in English from Manhattan College. He received a Fulbright Scholarship and taught English for a year in Bulgaria. On Aug. 17, 1968, he married Lucille Larrivee at St. Anne's Church in Waterbury, Conn. He lived in Ossining for the past 42 years. He was a teacher and drama coach for White Plains High School, where he taught for 27 years before retiring in 1996.

Locally, he was a lector at St. Theresa Church in Briarcliff Manor and served as president and member of the Parish Council for many years.

Naughton is survived by his wife, Lucille; daughter, Laurie Naughton (David) Muldoon; son, Sean (Danielle) Naughton; one brother; one sister;  three grandsons; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Reposing will take place Thursday, Jan. 29, from 4-8 p.m. and Friday, Jan. 30, from 10-11:15 a.m. at St. Theresa Church, Pleasantville Road, Briarcliff Manor. A funeral Mass will take place Friday, Jan. 29, at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery in Ossining.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to De LaSalle Christian Brothers, Narragansett, R.I.; St. Theresa Church, Briarcliff Manor; or Maryknoll Sisters or Fathers and Brothers, Maryknoll.
