John J. Gulick, 93, White Plains Resident

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- John J. Gulick, 93, of White Plains, died at his home on Sunday, Aug. 2.

Gulick was born May 23, 1922, the son of John and Elizabeth Gulick.

Gulick was a master plumber and owner of John Gulick Plumbing and Heating in White Plains, along with his son Robert.

He was a member of the Greenville Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years followed by seven years of service on the White Plains Fire Department.

He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Essex from 1942-45. He was a longtime member of the Scarsdale Elks and was a P.E.R, P.S.V.P. and P.D.D.G.E.R. in the organization.

He is survived by his wife, Agnes (Novotny); two sons, Robert, and his wife, Deb, and Brian; a daughter, Debora, and her partner, Stephen Ivan; two grandchildren, David Gulick and Jennifer Vagios and her husband, Dimitrios; and two sisters, Ethel Ackerman and Dorothy McMichael and her husband, Robert.

He was predeceased by his brothers George and Walter; and a son-in-law, Peter Herdic.

Visiting hours are Thursday, Aug. 6, from 3:30-8:30 p.m. at McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett, 491 Mamaroneck Ave.,  White Plains.
