John Caridi, 94, White Plains WWII Veteran

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – John Caridi of White Plains died June 24. He was 94.

He was born June 15, 1918 in Tuckahoe to Amelia Latella and Pasquale Caridi. He married Marie LaCortiglia on Oct. 11, 1942, in Mount Vernon. Caridi served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946. He was employed as a parts manager at Central Avenue Chrysler until his retirement in 1983.

A former resident of Tuckahoe, Caridi also worked as a voting machine custodian for the towns of Eastchester and Mamaroneck.

He is survived by two daughters, Linda (Alex) Bonci, of Eastchester and Judy (Robert) Niles, of White Plains; a sister-in-law and three grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie, in 1997 as well as a brother and two sisters.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday at McMahon, Lyon and Hartnett Funeral Home in White Plains. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in White Plains, with the Rev. Philip Quealy officiating. Burial will follow at Ferncliff Mausoleum in Hartsdale.
