WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Joan Irene (Vollmers) O’Brien, a lifelong resident of White Plains, died Oct. 20. She was 83.

O’Brien was born Oct. 30, 1929, in White Plains, to Mary E. (Foley) and Fred W. Vollmers. She was employed for 35 years with Reichold Chemicals as a freight analyst until her retirement.

O’Brien is survived by her sister, Dorothy M. Stanton; niece, Mary E. Foley (Danny); a grand niece and grandnephew; and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents; and nephew, Frederick G. Stanton.

Calling hours are Thursday, Oct. 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25 at Our Lady of Sorrows. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in O’Brien’s memory to the Graymoor Center located at 1320 Route 9, Garrison, NY, 10524.
