James A. Mulligan Jr., 86, Of White Plains, Manager, N.Y. Telephone Co.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - James A. Mulligan Jr., of White Plains died Dec. 18. He was 86.

Mulligan was born Jan. 3, 1928, to Kathleen Coyne and James A. Mulligan Sr. He served in the Marine Corps from 1946 to 1949 and then the reserves until 1952. He worked as a manager for N.Y. Telephone Co. (now Verizon) and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was active in his church and AARP for many years. He coached White Plains baseball.

Mulligan is survived by his wife, Katherine; daughter, Katherine M. (George) Winsman of Yorktown Heights; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Kim Mulligan. He was predeceased by his son, James L. Mulligan; brother, Thomas Mulligan; and sisters, Eileen Papain and Rosemary Donaldson.

Calling hours are Sunday, Dec. 21 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home Inc., 491, Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 920 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Ave., Hawthorne.
