Ines A. DiGioia, 97, White Plains Resident

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Ines A. DiGioia, of White Plains, died Thursday, April 7. She was 97.

She was born Aug. 31, 1918, in New York City, to the late Angelo and Gemma Masi. 

On May 24, 1942, she married Adolph DiGioia at Immaculate Conception Church in the Bronx. He predeceased her in 2013, after 70 years of marriage.

She graduated from Wadleigh High School in Manhattan. She worked for Macy's and Genung's in retail sales and as an office manager at Stewart Hall Chemical in Mount Vernon. Largely self-taught, she loved all things artistic and beautiful. She loved reading good literature, listening to classical music and opera and viewing art in books and at museums. She was an avid gardener and Italian cook.

She is survived by her children, Andrea DiGioia Rothberg of New Rochelle and Dr. Richard DiGioia of Washington D.C.; her sons-in-law, Peter Rothberg and Robert Nelson; her grandchildren, Ethan and Miranda DiGioia Rothberg; her brother, Angelo Masi, and countless good friends from White Plains.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home Inc., 491 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains, with interment to follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
