Hudson Valley Resident Lauren Whalen, Executive Assistant, Dies At 26

Hudson Valley resident Lauren M. Whalen, who worked as an executive assistant in Manhattan, died on Wednesday, April 18 at Presbyterian Hospital in Queens. She was 26.

The daughter of Anissa McKechnie (Picarella) and the late Kevin Alexander McKechnie, she was born on June 15, 1991 in New York City. Lauren attended Sachem High School East in Farmingville on Long Island and The Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan. She worked as an executive assistant at Jafra Capital Management in Manhattan. 

On July 1, 2017, she married George T. Whalen IV of Millbrook at St. Joseph’s Church in Millbrook. They truly enjoyed each other and life together every day.

On Feb. 16, 2018, Lauren gave birth to a son, George T. Whalen V.

 Lauren is also survived her mother, her brother Nicholas Alexander McKechnie, her grandmother, Mary Ann Picarella, her aunt Janine Milone (Joseph Milone) and her cousins, Caitlin and Melissa Milone. 

She is also survived by her mother and father-in- law, Susan and George Whalen, sisters- in- law, Sarah Morin (David Morin), Kathryn Whalen and Caroline Whalen and niece and nephew, Isabella Morin and Fisher Morin. 

Visitation hours will be held at the Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard in Flushing on Sunday, April 22 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Michael’s Church, 138-65 Barclay Avenue in Flushing on Monday, April 23 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Raymond’s Cemetery, Holy Cross Section, 2600 Lafayette Avenue, Bronx. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Lauren’s memory to St. Joseph’s Church, P.O. Box 439, Millbrook, NY 1254
