Former Byram Hills Assistant Betty Meyer Van de Water, 89, Of Armon

ARMONK, N.Y. – Betty Meyer Van de Water, a resident of Armonk, died. She was 89.

She was born on Feb.23,1927, in Holdredge, Nebraska.

She grew up with in York, Nebraska, with her father, a salesman, and her mother, a homemaker. When her father's business became successful, they moved to Omaha, when she was in high school. In 1945, she graduated from Benson High School.

On Nov.24,1948, she married Peter. They met while singing in the same church choir in Omaha.For 44 years, they made Armonk their home.

After being a full-time homemaker for almost 20 years, she went to work as an administrative assistant in the Byram Hills Central School District Office.

Later, she began her own bookkeeping and income tax business, serving small independent business people around town. She was also a personal assistant to Thomas Watson of IBM. 

In 2004, she moved with Peter to Air Force Village in San Antonio, TX, for retirement.

She is survived by two daughters Susan Van de Water of Midland, TX and Sally Ernsberger of Perrysburg, OH; and granddaughter Angela Ernsberger.

She was predeceased by her husband Peter.

There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug.2, at Greenfield Cemetery at 650 Nassau Rd., Uniondale, NY 11553.
