Dawson was born March 19, 1940, in the Bronx, to Edna and Charles Saling. Until her retirement in 1998, she worked as a registered nurse at both White Plains Hospital and Westchester Medical Center.
Ellin is survived by six children Ellen (Steven) Bruckenthal of Millwood, N.Y., David P. (Terri) Dawson of Hawthorne, Cathy (Ron) Tenzyk of Thornwood, William C. Dawson of Connecticut, Suzanne (Anthony) McVeigh of Hartsdale, and Michael (Stacey) Dawson of Valhalla, NY. Also surviving is a sister Joan Lamb of the Bronx; and eight grandchildren; Lindsay G. Dawson, Michael P. Dawson, Francesca V. Dawson, Kaitlyn McVeigh, Megan McVeigh, Ryan Bruckenthal, Victoria Philabaum and Travis Tenzyk. On Sept. 21, 1969 Ellin married William P. Dawson in Crestwood, N.Y. He predeceased her in 1998.
Calling hours are Thursday, Dec. 26 from 7 to 9 p.m. at McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home Inc., 491 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27 at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 2 Broadway, Valhalla. Interment at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 575 Hillside Ave., White Plains.
