Elli L. Bayliss, 90, White Plains Resident

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Elli L. Bayliss, of White Plains, died at his home surrounded by her family on Friday, July 17. She was 90.

Bayliss was born Dec. 31, 1924, in Guckingen, Germany. She came to this country with Morris Bayliss, her husband of 51 years. They were the owners of Nu-Way Cleaners & Tailors of Westchester, family-owned since 1945 and now operated by her son, Richard and his family.

Her husband died in 2000.

She is survived by her daughter, Annette Schwab, and her husband, Paul, of Pleasantville; and her son, Richard Bayliss, and his wife, Kathy, of Valhalla; her grandchildren, David, and wife Becky Schwab, of Westerly, R.I., Jason Schwab of New York, Michael Bayliss, of Valley Cottage, NY, and Jeffrey Bayliss, of Danbury, Conn.; and her great-grandson, Gavin Schwab of Westerly, R.I.

She is also survived by relatives in Germany: her sister, Gertrud Kerth; and sister-in-law, Liesel Keiper.

The funeral service was held Monday Congregation Kol Ami, 252 Soundview Ave., White Plains. Burial was to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 80 Commerce St., Hawthorne.

The family will sit shiva on Tuesday, July 21, from 7-9 p.m. at the home of Richard and Kathy Bayliss, 2 Birch Brook Drive, Valhalla.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to White Plains Hospital, 41 E. Post Road, White Plains, NY 10601 in her memory and in recognition of the outstanding nursing staff on the third floor.
