WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. Ellen Tolk Burke Skolnick of White Plains died June 23. She was 68.
Skolnick was born March 24, 1944, in New York City to Jerry and Harriet Tolk. Raised in Larchmont, she attended New Rochelle High School. After graduating from Boston University in 1966, she received a master's degree from Columbia University and an MBA from Iona College.
She moved from Port Chester to Rye Brook with her two sons after getting divorced. She then married Harvey Skolnick in 2001 and they moved together to White Plains. Skolnick first worked as an English as a second language and Spanish teacher. She later became a certified public account.
She spent 31 years working in private and public accounting for Young Broadcasting, Rosen Seymour Shapps Martin & Company and Rockwood Real Estate Advisors. She was an active member of the New York State Society of CPA's. After remarrying, Skolnick learned to play golf. She also enjoyed photography, traveling, cooking and professional and personal networking.
Skolnick is survived by her husband, Harvey Skolnick; two sons, David, of Wilton, Conn. and Jonathan, of Windermere, Fla.; her stepchildren, Amy McDaniel, of Dallas, Texas and Andrew Skolnick, of Bedford Hills; a brother, Peter Tolk, of Dallas and 10 grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Monday at Riverside Memorial Chapel in Mount Vernon.
