WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Eleanor Stillman of White Plains, formerly of Ardsley, died June 30. She was 96.

Stillman was born May 23, 1918, in White Plains, and moved to Greenburgh at the age of 12 and was a resident of the City of White Plains since 1997. She was a retired White Plains elementary school teacher and assistant principal at Our Lady of Sorrows School. She was an auxiliary member, volunteered at the Dobbs Ferry Hospital, the St. Agnes Hospital and a Life Member of the White Plains Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of The White Plains Historical Society, White Plains Retired Teachers Association, Emma Lazarus chapter or Hadassah, the College Club of White Plains, The American Legion Auxiliary of Ardsley # 0458, Ardsley Historical Society, Ladies of Charity, Catholic Daughters of the American Coalition # 601, The Woman’s Club of White Plains, The Dobbs Ferry Woman’s Club since 1962 serving on the executive board for both the day and evening sections. She was a member of both the Friends of Ardsley and Friends of White Plains Public Libraries, and a Member of the Exchange Club of White Plains.

She was a former PTA executive Board Member of the Greenburgh School District #8 and the Ardsley School District #5. She served as a Republican district leader town of Greenburgh, president of the Ladies republic Club, member of the Fairview Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Den Mother for Scout Troop #98 Ardsley. She was a parishioner of our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Ardsley and a former member of the League of the Sacred Heart.

Stillman is survived by her sons, William (Monica) Stillman III of Tulsa, Okla., Roger ( Irene ) Stillman of Putnam Valley; four grandchildren; a great grandchild; brother, Albert Spinelli of Stony Point; and sister, Dolores Nix of Montgomery Ala. She was predeceased by her husband, William Stillman Jr.; and siblings, Santina Sharkey, Anthony, Spinelli, and Antionette Morello. Calling hours are Monday, July 7 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home Inc. , 491 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 8 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 353 Ashford Ave., Ardsley. Interment at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Ave., Hawthorne.
