Edward A. Massoni, 89, Former Bookkeeper In White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Edward A. Massoni, of Modena, N.Y., a retired bookkeeper for Safe Flight Instrument Co. in White Plains, died on Oct. 13 at Vassar Brother's Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was 89.

Massoni was the son of the late Louis and Catherine Briggi Massoni, Edward was born July 31, 1924 in New York City.

Edward was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, former member of Knights of Columbus in Croton-on-Hudson and an avid bowler, Yankees fan and woodworker. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the years of 1943-1946. He also worked part-time for RCA in Elmsford.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Fortunato Massoni at home; son, Daniel Massoni of Miami; daughters: Elizabeth Kotlowski and her husband, Stephen of Newburgh, Debra Carlson and her husband, Glenn of Higganum, Conn.; Michele Diulio and her husband, Larry of Newburgh, and Elyse Kretz and her husband, Peter of Sandy Hook, Conn.; grandchildren: Thomas Kotlowski, Gabrielle Diulio, Catherine Kotlowski, Erik Carlson, Vincent Diulio, Kirsten Carlson, Bradley Kretz, Jennifer Carlson and Dylan Kretz, as well as a niece and nephew. Edward was predeceased by his sister, Anne Tiedeman.

Visitation for family and friends will take place Friday, Oct. 18 from 3:30 to 8 p.m. at White & Venuto Funeral Home, 188 North Plank Rd. (Rt. 32), Newburgh, A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 19 at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Rt. 32, Plattekill, N.Y., with Father John Jaume officiating. Cremation will follow the Mass at Cedar Hill Crematory in Newburgh.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Edward's memory to Healing the Children Northeast (htcne.org), or a local soup kitchen or to a charity of one's choice.
