Jamison was born July 26, 1926, in South Carolina, to Reverend Alfred “AC” and Eliza Mae Antony Carter. She was educated at a Junior College in Trenton, South Carolina; she later attended Claflin University in Orangeburg, S.C., where she received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She moved to Philadelphia, Pa., and later settled in White Plains. She then joined the Mount Hope AME Zion Church under the late Reverend Ralph W. Gullette, DD Pastor. While attending Mount Hope she also taught Sunday school for several years.
She was employed by the State of New York Department of Social Services for 25 years.
Jamison is survived by her siblings, Elias Carter (Mildred) of Felton, Del., and Maggie E. Nichols of Greensboro, N.C.; sons, Theopolis, Louis, Harold, Timothy E. (Connie), Robert, David, Jesse; daughter, Elizabeth Jamison; 15 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews; relatives; and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Issac “Ike” Jamison; sisters, Willie Mae Walker (Samuel), Mattie Bell Childs, Elease Portee, Addie Lee Childs (George Sr.); brothers, Curtis Carter (Jannie), John Henry Carter (Margaret), Alfred Carter (Mildred); brother-in-law, William Nichols; daughter, Carolyn Palmer Yuille.
Calling hours are Monday, April 7 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Mount Hope AME Zion Church, 65 Lake St., White Plains, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Smith officiating.
