Denise Pochat, 44, White Plains Speech Pathologist

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Denise Kroessler Pochat of White Plains died suddenly on July 28. She was 44. 

Pochat was born Aug. 22, 1967, in Brooklyn, N.Y., later moving to White Plains at the age of eight. She was married to Christian Pochat for 22 years. Pochat graduated from New York University with a bachelor's degree in elementary and special education.

She received a master's degree in speech and language pathology from SUNY New Paltz.  She worked as speech pathologist for Yonkers public schools, where she enjoyed her work with children. 

Pochat is survived by her husband, Christian, two children, Caroline and Maeve; her mother, Velia Kroessler; and a sister, Lynn (John) Ryan.  

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at McMahon, Lyon and Harnett Funeral Home in White Plains. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Valhalla. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla. 

In her honor, Pochat’s family request that those willing may do something to improve the life of a child with special needs. A fund is being set up for her two daughters for those who wish to donate.
