WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Daniel A. Schildwachter Jr. of White Plains died Tuesday, May 27. He was 85.
Schildwachter was born July 24, 1928, in the Bronx. He served as president of Fred M. Schildwachter & Sons Inc. He was a member of the National Guard 258th Field Artillery Battalion from 1948 to 1953.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Scarsdale and served as president of the congregation and on the Board of Trustees as well as the Board of Education. He served on the Board of Directors at the Wartburg Lutheran Home and held the position of chairman of the Board of Directors. He was also a member of the White Plains Volunteer Fire Department and the Kiwanis Club.
Schildwachter is survived by his children, Daniel A. III (Ellen Bellisi), Lois Ann (Richard J. Kane Sr.), Paul John (Jenifer Szczesny) and Amy Elizabeth; wife, Elfriede (Hanisch); 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Elizabeth (Muench).
Calling hours are Thursday, May 29, from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 30, at Trinity Lutheran Church Scarsdale. Interment at White Plains Rural Cemetery.
