Crescenzo Simonelli, 87, Of White Plains, Retired Postal Worker

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Crescenzo “Cres” Simonelli, a longtime White Plains resident, died May 28. He was 87.

Simonelli was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Brooklyn, to Salvatore and Catherine Olivieri Simonelli. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to1946 serving throughout Europe and was in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office for 35 years, retiring in 1985. Simonelli is survived by his children, Linda (Alan) Cramer of Shrub Oak, Cathy (Bill) Chang of Woodbridge, Va., and Terri (Bill) Mancini of White Plains; sister, Blanche Simonelli of Auburn, Maine; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; and his wife, Mary Paolucci.

Calling hours are Friday, May 31 from  4 to 8 p.m. in the McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home Inc. , 491 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains. Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1 at the funeral home. Interment in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, 575 Hillside Ave., White Plains.
