WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Catharine Cunniff of White Plains died June 20. She was 99.
Cunniff was born Oct. 15, 1913, in Sheffield, Pennsylvania to Thomas M. Cunniff and Anna E. (Dolan) Cunniff. She put herself through nursing school and went on to become a dedicated employee of the Grasslands Hospital (now known as Westchester Medical Center). After retirement in 1973, she volunteered at the local library reading stories to children for many years.
Cunniff is survived by several nieces and nephews; and countless friends. She was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Mary and Dorothy; and brothers, Leo and Emmett.
Funeral preparations are being made by the Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, and she will be buried in the family plot in St. Joseph’s cemetery in Warren, Pa. A small private gathering will be held in Warren, Pennsylvania at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted by Elmsford Animal Shelter or Pets Alive Westchester.
