Wessel was born May 11, 1932, in White Plains. He owned and ran a successful company which allowed him to travel the world.
Wessel is survived by his sons, Garry of White Plains, Rolf (Tina) of Newtown, Conn.; daughters, Elizabeth (Joe) McKeon of Poughquag and Vivian Wessel of Kristiansand, Norway; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Bjorg; and brothers, Kenneth, George and Kurt.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Donations in Wessel's name may be made to the American Heart Association, American Lung Association, Hospice of Hyde Park or the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
