YWCA White Plains Launches Spring Health Series

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- YWCA White Plains and Central Westchester will launch a spring health series beginning in May.

A program aimed at reducing falls and supporting better balance will begin Tuesday, May 3 or Thursday, May 5. The eight-week program emphasizes practical strategies and realistic exercise goals. Classes take place at 10:30 a.m. and noon on Tuesdays or Thursdays. The program cost is $100 for members and $125 for nonmembers. 

Tai Chi for Arthritis and Balance begins May 3. Dr. Paul Lam developed the eight-week program to relieve arthritis pain and improve balance, stamina and life quality. The program is free to the first 15 veterans and $144 for members or $180 for nonmembers. 

A 10-week Tai Ji Quan program will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The style developed by Dr. Fuzhong Li combines Tai Ji Quan actions, respiration and mindfulness with contemporary balance training. The program is $180 for members and $225 for nonmembers.
