Woman's Club Of White Plains Honors Scholarship Winners

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The Woman's Club of White Plains recently held its annual spring dinner to honor this year's scholarship recipients from White Plains High School.

For nearly 60 years, the Woman's Club has been offering scholarship to White Plains students pursuing further education.

Ybelize Pilarte, chairwoman of the scholarship program, introduced the scholarship winners: Jennifer Abreu, Melissa Guarin, Mouna Maes, Alejandra Marin, Shaina Hernandez, Michelle Giraldo, Hanna Lo, Fernanda Moscoso, Imani Thomas, Katherine Baldera, Abigail Strug, Stephanie Pinet, Judie Mendoza, Paula Piedrahita, Ariana Annunziato and Julia Buerle The girls will be attending various colleges, including Binghamton University, Hunter College, SUNY Albany, Mercy College, Manhattanville College and Westchester Community College.

“I’m so pleased to report that the Woman’s Club of White Plains Foundation will be providing a total of $15,000 in scholarships this year to an outstanding group of young women," said Christine Roithmayr, president of the Woman's Club of White Plains Foundation.  The money was raised through our spring scholarship luncheon and fashion show, which had over 200 attendees this year, our largest luncheon to date.”

Ellen Dohery, the principal of White Plains High School, was in attendance and thanked the Woman's Club for its generosity and support over the years in helping young women continue their education. She remarked, "White Plains is a community that loves its children."
