WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – The White Plains Youth Bureau and the Beta Alpha Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. will hold its second annual Fatherhood of the Year Awards program and breakfast on Saturday, June 14 at 8:30 a.m.
The event at the Eastview School, 350 Main St. is free to the public.
Seven fathers will be honored for their leadership, community service and positive roles as good fathers. Abdul Tubman, a descendant of Harriett Tubman, will be a guest speaker.
The 2014 honorees are Robert Janowitz, assistant principal of Mamaroneck Avenue Elementary School, Villa Fane Sorer, Walter Daugherty, Paxton J. Louis, Jose Villar, Sam Jerrick, and Frank Perez.
Now in its fifth year in White Plains, the Fatherhood Program offers dads opportunities to grow family relationships by encouraging better communication and assists fathers with finding job opportunities.
