White Plains To Launch Food, Jazz Festival Sept. 9

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – The city hopes to add to its list of annual events with the White Plains International Food and Jazz Festival, which will be held for the first time Sept. 9, according to a press release.

The city teamed up with the White Plains Business Improvement District to organize the event, which will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mamaroneck Avenue between Main and Quarropas streets.

Jazz artists, including the legendary Bob Baldwin, will perform live on the showmobile stage. The Westchester Jazz Orchestra Sextet, the Brian Carter Quartet and Reegal Beegal also will perform.

While parents enjoy the sounds of smooth jazz, their children can take part in a creative movement workshop set to jazz at the ArtsWestchester headquarters, 31 Mamaroneck Ave. The children’s workshop is free.

Throughout the day, food will be for sale at downtown restaurants, in addition to fresh baked goods, cupcakes, chocolates, smoothies and several healthy selections.
