White Plains Taking Applications For Firefighter Exam

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Interested in becoming a firefighter? A firefighter civil service exam will be held March 9, 2013, and is open to Westchester residents, with preference in appointments given to White Plains residents.

Approved applicants will receive a time and location for free training for both the written and physical agility portions of the exam. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Nov. 8 and can be downloaded from the city's website or picked up at one of the following locations:

  • City Hall Personnel Department, 255 Main St., third floor, White Plains, NY 10601 
  • Thomas H. Slater Community Center, 2 Fisher Court, White Plains, NY 10601
  • El Centro Hispano, 346 S. Lexington Avenue, White Plains, NY 10606

Completed applications can be submitted to any of the above the locations or mailed to the City of White Plains Personnel Department.

The salary range is $54,965 to $86,179.
