WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Calling all White Plains students in their junior year, the city Recreation Advisory Council needs a student liaison and is now accepting applications.
Candidates must be city residents, juniors in high school and able to attend meetings at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month from September to June.
The selected candidate will serve from January 2013 to June 2014.
The Recreation Advisory Council helps the Recreation and Parks Department plan and develop recreation and parks programs. It is a volunteer committee appointed by the mayor and Common Council. The student liaison will get experience in decision making, group dynamics and budgeting, and insight into how government works.
Applications are available at the White Plains Recreation and Parks Department, 85 Gedney Way, or online . Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. Dec. 21, and interviews will be held in early January.
