White Plains Recovers After Hurricane Sandy

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- With Hurricane Sandy out of the area, many White Plains residents flocked to the grocery store and gas station Wednesday to restock their shelves and fill their tanks.

Stop & Shop on 154 Westchester Ave. restocked its bread shelf, which was left barren from front to back by people preparing for the storm Sunday and Monday. Similarly, water was back in stock at Stop & Shop, as well as Whole Foods on 110 Bloomingdale Road and Target in the White Plains City Center.

While some local WiFi spots are up and running again, like the White Plains Library, some are still down or experiences a slow connection. Those include Atlanta Bread, Panera and Barnes & Noble. For those looking for a WiFi connection, the White Plains Library is open until 9 p.m. Wednesday and 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

Gas stations had lines spilling into traffic waiting to fill up Wednesday.
