WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - The Rev. Bob Morris of the Church of St. Bernard in White Plains will ride his bike approximately 75 miles along the North County Bike Trail on Monday to raise funds to furnish his parish's newly renovated kitchen and cafeteria, according to a news release.

The church is asking people to pledge for each mile he bikes to raise the approximately $20,00 needed. Morris will begin at the church and ride through North White Plains, Valhalla, Pleasantville, Millwood, Yorktown and Mahopac, then back, the release said.

Volunteers have helped to repair and paint St. Bernard's crumbling walls, installing new windows and dining room and kitchen floors, which the church said saved thousands of dollars. Now, its kitchen needs a new commercial stove, refrigerator, freezer and dishwasher. The cafeteria dining room needs tables, chairs and dining-room supplies.

Both rooms will be used for the Little Disciple Learning Center Pre-School lunch and after-school program, the youth group midnight runs, religious education receptions, sacramental receptions, adult faith formation gatherings and Sunday breakfast and brunches after Mass.

Pledges can be made after Masses at the pledge table, at the rectory during office hours, by phone at 914-949-2111, on the church website or by email
