White Plains Police: Stop Sign Ripped From Ground

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A man ripped a stop sign from the ground on Renaissance Square around 2:30 Thursday morning, police said.

A concierge at the Ritz-Carlton told police he saw a white male about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a medium build and wearing red shorts and a black tank top walk up to the sign and shake it “aggressively” until it broke.

Afterwards, the concierge said, the suspect and about five other men continued walking on Renaissance Square toward Hamilton Avenue. Police were unable to find him during a search of the area.

The concierge said surveillance cameras don't cover that area and didn’t capture an image of the suspect.

The suspect would face a charge of fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor, if caught.
