WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A Yonkers man looking through his grandmother’s car with a friend drew the attention of police, who then found a rolled marijuana cigarette in the car when questioning him, according to the arrest report.

The 22-year-old was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Police saw him and another man, known to police because his car had been stolen earlier this year, going through a white 1997 Toyota Corolla with flash lights Sunday around 10:40 p.m. on 125 S. Broadway Ave. Another car occupied by two people was parked behind it.

When police asked the Yonkers man, who was sitting in the back seat of the car, to step outside, they noticed a rolled cigarette, which the suspect admitted was marijuana and that it was his. He also told police he had another marijuana cigarette in his pocket, and that the car belonged to his grandmother and he had permission to use it. Police later confirmed this information with his grandmother.

The other people on the scene were let go, but the suspect was arrested and released on his own recognizance with a City Court date for Oct. 23.
