WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- White Plains police say a Mount Vernon man swindled $3,376.68 from his employers at J. Crew via false transactions.
Loss prevention staff told officers John Gamble, 22, enlisted a friend to help him scam the Westchester Mall shop from December 2011 through February 2012.
Gamble gave his pal his debit card and asked him to repeatedly pose as a customer, police said. The friend then approached Gamble at the register, where the employee refunded unsold merchandise onto his own debit card, according to police. Officers say a series of fraudulent exchanges also helped line Gamble's pockets.
Gamble was arrested and charged with one count of third-degree grand larceny, a felony.
