WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- County Executive Robert P. Astorino has announced that 15 county-based organizations have committed to participate in the fall 2014 “class” of Westchester Green Business-Certified (WGB-Certified), the region’s first green business certification program that was successfully piloted earlier this year.
Members gathered at The Arc of Westchester in Hawthorne last week to network and learn about the program from its coordinators, Dani Glaser (Green Team Spirit) and Scott Fernqvist (Westchester County).
“These newest members of WGB-Certified are committed to growing their companies in a responsible and sustainable way,” said Astorino. “That’s what this is all about -- helping businesses reduce costs and increase efficiency, while at the same time preserving the environment.”
Below is the complete list of fall 2014 WGB-Certified members:
- Allied Converters, Inc.
- The Arc of Westchester
- Atlantic Westchester
- Cerebral Palsy Westchester
- Encourage Yoga
- Green Eileen
- Montefiore Hospital - Mount Vernon and New Rochelle
- Murphy Brothers Contracting

WGB-Certified represents an expansion of the highly successful Westchester Green Business Challenge, a public-private partnership launched in 2009 by Westchester County in partnership with The Business Council of Westchester to help Westchester-based organizations “go green” while saving money and improving performance.
This newest class of WGB-Certified will join the 18 organizations that participated in the program’s pilot earlier this year. To date, Diamond Properties (Mount Kisco), Reckson, a division of SL Green Realty Corp (White Plains) and The Blue Pig (Croton-on-Hudson) have achieved WGB-Certification.
