White Plains Man Charged With Having Child Porn

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -  A White Plains man was arrested and charged with possessing, receiving and distributing child pornography in White Plain Federal Court Friday.

Alexsandr Mkrytchyan, 28, faces a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for one count of child pornography possession connected with 2,700 explicit documents. If convicted of one count of receiving and distributing the child porn files, Mkrytchyan could serve at least five to 20 years in prison, and receive a second fine of up to $250,000, according to a press release from the United States Attorney’s Office of the Southern District of New York.

Mkrytchyan was released on bail Friday afternoon. His release forbids him from having any unsupervised contact with kids, including at the hospital in the New York metro area where he works as a radiology technician.

Mkrytchyan admitted to downloading and sharing child pornography files authorities found in his home during a search Friday.

The radiology technician told officers searching his home that he has been interested in child porn since he discovered it at 13 while interacting with a 30-year-old woman over the internet.

New York City Police Department detectives began investigating the networking program Mkrytchyan used in May after they noticed an increase in child pornography exchanges on the program. According to court documents, an agent with the Innocent Images unit of the New York’s FBI unit became friends with Mkrytchyan, “My94ttkill” on this networking program. The agent noticed Mkrytchyan was sharing more than 5,000 files and downloaded about 2,700 files that contained images of prepubescent girls with their legs spread and other explicit images of minors.

On Friday, authorities used a search warrant to enter Mkrytchyan’s home and seize a desktop computer, a laptop, several external hard drives and many CDs and DVDs.

When officers interviewed Mkrytchyan he confirmed details he had already revealed to an FBI agent investigating him through chat messages on the networking program.
