Police Officer Paul Stasaitis was on patrol on Oregon Road when he observed two vehicles – a Jeep and an SUV – driving at a high rate of speed near the Hollow Brook Golf Club, Westchester County Police said.

When the Jeep pulled over to the side of the road, the SUV passed it, came to a stop and started to back up toward the Jeep. When Stasaitis yelled for the driver to come to a stop, he drove off. Stasaitis pursued the SUV to Concord Drive, where the driver jumped out and fled into the woods, according to police.

The driver of the Jeep told officers that her ex-boyfriend had confronted her at a local gas station minutes earlier and followed her when she drove away, County Police said.

Police tracked down Kyle Gavin, 24, later in the day and he agreed to surrender, Westchester County Police said.

Gavin was charged with third-degree stalking, failure to obey an officer and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, all misdemeanors, police said.
