Jaerue Williams, 27, is charged with second-degree murder, a felony, first-degree manslaughter and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both violent felonies. He is also facing charges in a Larchmont home burglary.

Williams is accused of shooting Wilfredo Rivera once in the chest at close range on Aug. 11, 2012, according to the District Attorney’s office. Several of his friends took Rivera to Greenwich Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police later identified Williams as the suspect in the shooting. He was already in custody, having been arrested Aug. 18 and charged with a parole violation. He was on parole from two 2010 felony convictions.

Larchmont police later identified Williams as the suspect in an early morning home burglary. He was indicted Sept. 26 on charges of second-degree burglary, a violent felony, first-degree petit larceny and two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, both misdemeanors.

Williams faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life on the murder charge and up to 15 years on the burglary charge.

“Collaborative detective work in several jurisdictions linked this defendant to both crimes, which occurred within a day of each other,” DiFiore said in a statement.

Assistant District Attorney Wendy Parra of the Superior Court Trial Division is prosecuting the murder case.

Assistant District Attorney Timothy Ward, Chief of the Career Criminal Bureau, is prosecuting the burglary case.
