White Plains Man Arraigned in Knifepoint Rape

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — A White Plains man was arraigned Thursday on five charges in connection with the sexual assault and rape of a woman at knifepoint March 30 in White Plains, Janet DiFiore, Westchester County district attorney, announced in a press release.

Alberto Gomez Ojeda, 29, of 125 Lake St., approached the woman as she walked alone in the area of Lake Street after midnight, according to the press release. DiFiore said the defendant sexually assaulted and forcibly raped the woman at knifepoint. 

Ojeda fled, but he was arrested the next day, April 1, by White Plains police, according to the press release. 

He is charged with two counts of first-degree predatory sexual assault, a class "A-II" felony, one count of first-degree criminal sexual act, a class "B" felony, one count of first-degree rape, a class "B" felony, and one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class "A" misdemeanor. 

Ojeda's next court appearance is May 22. He faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.

Assistant District Attorney Wendy Parra of the Sex Crimes Bureau is prosecuting the case.
