WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - A Dobbs Ferry woman was caught snatching kitchen shears out of a Macy's knife set, using the shears to slice security tags off wallets, and stashing $642 worth of stolen merchandise into her purse and H & M shopping bag, according to White Plains police reports.
Officers arrived at the Galleria Mall Macy's Tuesday night after staff watched Fakeeha Zahees, 21, leave the store without paying for the accessories on video surveillance.
Police arrested Zahees and charged her with one count of petit larceny, one count of possession of burglar's tools, and one count of fourth-degree criminal mischief. All three charges are misdemeanors.
Police say Zahees took four pieces of jewelry collectively worth $120 and five wallets that totaled $522. Macy's reported that Zahees damaged the $199.99 twin knife set she broke into and broke the kitchen shears while de-tagging wallets.
