WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The White Plains Library will soon expand their hours on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, the city announced Monday.
Beginning July 1, the library will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays. It currently closes at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and opens at 1 p.m. on Fridays.
Beginning Sept. 1, Saturday hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is currently open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.
"The extra hours will provide more time for community partners to utilize the Library and its meeting rooms," Brian Kenney, director of the White Plains Library, said. We know that Friday and Saturday mornings are important for families and were thrilled to resume being open those mornings.
"Despite only a modest change in our fiscal year 2012-2013 budget we have made it our priority to increase the time the library is open to the public," Kenney said. "Via efficiencies gained through our partnership with Westchester Library System, and through the utilization of new technology, as well as an internal reorganization, we are pleased to be able to expand our hours. Im especially thankful to the library staff for their support of this initiative."
