WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. The White Plains Library begins extended hours next week.
Through Aug. 31, the library will be open:
- Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m.-9 p.m.
- Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
- Saturday and Sunday from 1-5 p.m.
In September, Saturday hours will increase to 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The library is currently open 1-5 p.m. Friday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.
"The extra hours will provide more time for community partners to utilize the library and its meeting rooms," Brian Kenney, director of the White Plains Library, said. We know that Friday and Saturday mornings are important for families and were thrilled to resume being open those mornings.
"Despite only a modest change in our fiscal year 2012-2013 budget we have made it our priority to increase the time the library is open to the public," Kenney said. "Via efficiencies gained through our partnership with the Westchester Library System, and through the utilization of new technology, as well as an internal reorganization, we are pleased to be able to expand our hours. Im especially thankful to the library staff for their support of this initiative."
