WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The giant flower basket that brought beauty to the intersection at South Broadway and Armory Place for a decade was damaged Wednesday when it was struck by a car during an accident, according to lohud.com.
The boat-sized flower vessel was created and donated to the City of White Plains by the all--volunteer White Plains Beautification Foundation in 1996. Prominently located in an island at the intersection, the basket was hand-crafted by Jack McGrath of the former Nabel's Nursery.
Two people suffered minor injuries during the 8:30 a.m. accident.
