WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – The inaugural White Plains Cinco De Mayo celebration will feature a mariachi band, Latin music DJs, Mexican foods and beer on Sunday.
The event begins at 3 p.m. on Mamaroneck Avenue between East Post Road and Maple Avenue. The schedule is as follows:
- 3 p.m. - Latin DJ
- 4:20 to 5 p.m. - Performance by Ballet Folklórico Mexicano de Nueva York
- 5 to 6 p.m. - Mariachi Band
- 6 to 6:30 p.m. - Vocalist Katty la Estrellita
- 6:30 to 8 p.m. - Latin DJ
Also Sunday, The Center for Literacy Enrichment and El Centro Hispano in White Plains will celebrate the completion of its language development program. In mid-January, 25 kindergarten and first grade students have met twice a week to sharpen their reading, vocabulary, comprehension and writing skills.
This program continues The Center for Literacy Enrichment’s goal of making children lifelong readers and writers.
The celebration will include entertainment and refreshments at El Centro Hispano on 346 South Lexington Ave. at 1:30 p.m.
