WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – The White Plains City Council has approved the construction of a salt storage facility in the Gedney Recycling Yard to serve as a backup to the primary facility off Westchester Avenue, according to The Examiner.
The city’s Department of Public Works, which will construct the new storage facility, apparently looked at several locations before settling on the Gedney Recycling Yard, according to The Examiner.
Though the City Council did approve the plan, there were some questions about its impact on the public’s safety, according to The Examiner, which reported that Councilwoman Milagros Lecuona was concerned about the structure’s visibility during the winter months.
Lecuona requested that city residents be notified about the construction to avoid potential problems, according to The Examiner.
