WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Here are some of the stories that topped the news in White Plains last week:
On the 13th anniversary of 9/11 , Richard Hoffmann stood next to the White Plains 9/11 monument at Liberty Park that bears his brother-in-law’s name.and read a poem, titled “One” in memory of that day and the sense of unity that was born out of tragedy.
- Roberto Tejada, a 43-year old White Plains resident, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated by New York State Police.
- A group of high school-aged students threw a party in an unoccupied Scarsdale home that was recently sold, prompting neighbors to alert the police to the underage drinking.
- Hundreds turned out on Monday for the final public hearing on the French-American School of New York’s proposed White Plains campus. But the hearing was continued to Wednesday, Sept. 10 to allow all those who didn’t get a chance to speak to do so.
- The League of Women Voters of White Plains, Rivertowns, Scarsdale and Larchmont / Mamaroneck and the White Plains Public Library is presenting a Redistricting Forum on Wednesday.
