What's on the Agenda in White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Here's a look at what's on the agenda in White Plains' City Hall this week.

-The Board of Education will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night for a routine session. The public is welcome to join them at 5 Homeside Ln.

-The Common Council will convene Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The council will hold a public hearing to gauge what White Plains residents think of a proposal to create an Open Space Recreation District on Westchester Hills, Fenway, Maple Moor, and former Rigdway Golf Club, as well as certain lands along the Hutchinson River Parkway. The district would strengthen zoning laws in an effort to protect open spaces in White Plains. The French-American School of New York currently owns the former Ridgeway Country Club land and plans to build a school there that would currently be subject to different zoning laws.

The Council will also discuss a proposed law involving fingerprinting people applying for certain licenses, possibly amending the city's fire code, and examining traffic laws in certain city parking lots. Click here to read the complete agenda.

-The Zoning Board of Appeals will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Common Council Chambers. The board will consider White Plains Healthcare's request to add an additional building with a terrace and canopy. Doris Sassower seeks to increase the number of rooms for rent in her 283 Soundview Ave. home from two to five. She also wants permission to provide bed and breakfast services for up to 10 residents.
