WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — A night of "dancing under the stars", hip-hop dancing classes and the noon-day connect series are just some of the events happening in White Plains this week.

Monday July 9

Dream Big Adventures Crafts & Games : 4:30-5 p.m. The White Plains Children's room, known as the TROVE, continues its Monday afternoon series of fun activities for second through sixth graders with "Make Your Wish -- Crafts & Games." Explore the ways in which wishes are made all around the world. Activities will range from making wishing boats to playing "Pin the Sausage on the Nose." White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave.

TROVE @ the Movies : 7-8:30 p.m. This week, the TROVE Summer Film Festival presents "Marley & Me - The Puppy Years." Marley is back for more tail-wagging fun, and this time he speaks. This 86-minute movie is rated PG, for some mild rude humor, and is best suited for grades 1-6. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave.

Westchester County Board of Legislators : 7 p.m. The board will have its regular meeting in the board chambers on the eight-floor of the 800 Michaelian Office Building, 148 Martine Ave.

Tuesday July 10

6-5-4 Let's Explore : 4:30-6 p.m. Explore different activities at the White Plains Library while watching the 90-minute movie "Monster House" and enjoying some treats. This is a special program for fourth-, fifth- and sixth-graders. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave.

Wednesday July 11

Stories & Stuff - "Aargh! Pirates : 10:30-11 a.m. Literacy connections are made at "Stories & Stuff" where stories are centered around a theme and children listen and interact with corresponding rhymes, songs and/or finger plays. A final craft project ties in with the topic fostering a sense that stories are imaginative, yet lasting, and continue to enrich our creative thoughts and play. This program is for children ages 4-5. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave.

Dancing Under The Stars : 7 p.m. Renaissance Plaza will be transformed into a dance floor with big band music. Main Street and Mamaroneck Avenue.

Foreign Film Festival : 2-4 p.m. The 110-minute film "Bad Day to Go Fishing" will be shown in the White Plains Library auditorium. It will be shown again at 7 p.m. Jacob van Oppen, the former strongest man on Earth, and his manager Orsini, who calls himself “the Prince,” make a good living by traveling around small South American towns and organizing wrestling exhibitions. Arriving in Santa Maria, they are met with uncommon enthusiasm. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave.

Hip Hop Dancing : 4:30-5:30 p.m. Learn new moves to show off on the dance floor from Jody Green. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave.

Poetry SLAM and Open Mic : 6:30-9:30 p.m. The "1st Wednesday" Open Mic, SLAM competition continues this week with guest poet and slammaster Eric ZORK Alan. For audience members who want to step up to the mike, please register at 6:30 p.m. and bring two original poems of up to three minutes each. Thursday July 12

Stuffed Animal Sleepover Registration : 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Registration begins for the July Stuffed Animal Sleepover, which will be July 26-27. Registration is limited to children ages 4-8. Register in person in the Trove or by telephone at 914-422-1476. White Plains Library, 100 Martine Ave.

Noon Day Concert Series : Noon to 2 p.m. Conroy Warren, a reggae band, will perform in Renaissance Square for the city's summer noon-day concert series every Thursday throughout the summer.
