Westchester Hosts Hearing To Discuss Bee-Line Fares

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Westchester County Department of Public Works and Transportation will conduct a public hearing Wednesday, Jan. 7, from 6-9 p.m. at the Westchester County Center in White Plains to seek comment on the adoption of the proposed Metropolitan Transportation Authority fare increase for the Bee-Line System.

The MTA board is soliciting public comment on the proposals in the table below with respect to bus fares. Two proposed fare structures are being considered by the MTA.

Proposal 1: Base fare: $2.75; Metro Card Plus: 11 percent with $5.50 purchase; effective fare with MetroCard Bonus: $2.48; 30-day unlimited ride MetroCard: $116.50; 7-day unlimited ride MetroCard: $31.

Proposal 2: Base fare: $2.50; MetroCard Bonus: none; effective fare with MetroCard Bonus: $2.50; 30-day unlimited MetroCard: $116.50; 7-day unlimited ride Metro Card: $31.

Senior citizen and disabled reduced fares would be slightly less than half of the base fare under Proposal 1 and would remain at half of the base fare under Proposal 2.

There will be no fare changes on the Bee-Line BxM4C (Westchester-Manhattan Express). 

Those at the hearing will be given an opportunity to speak. All written comments must be received at the above addresses by the close of business on Thursday, Jan. 8.
